Oregon Chardonnay Annual Celebration

Nate Klostermann Argyle Winery

Born in Wisconsin, Nate developed a budding interest in wine production while working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science at the University of Minnesota. After getting a taste of the industry at Falconer Vineyards along the Mississippi River in Red Wing, MN, Nate packed his beat-up Acura Integra and drove west to Dundee, Oregon. Starting as a harvest intern in 2005, Nate was quickly promoted to enologist, and studied under the tutelage of Rollin Soles, Argyle’s founding winemaker.
Quickly falling in love with the sparkling winemaking process, Nate has embraced the year-round challenges that the sparkling winemaking process presents. As he has learned through a number of Argyle vintages, he believes that making great sparkling wine carries over and improves the winemaking techniques for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling. A firm believer in benchmarking his wines for ageability, Nate aims to construct wines that drink well in their youth, but also develop depth, texture, and complexity over time with careful cellaring. After eight years at Argyle Winery, Nate was appointed as head winemaker in March of 2013.
